Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian to make Serie A return in January as Inter Milan line-up loan deal

  • Italian full-back Matteo Darmian is on his way out of Manchester United, according to reports in his native country.
    The 26-year-old has played only once this season, that coming in the 1-0 Europa League defeat at Feyenoord, and is now behind youngster Timothy Fosu-Mensah in the Old Trafford pecking order.
    Italian sport-sheet Gazzetta Dello Sport put reports of Darmian's return to a Serie A with Inter Milan on their Saturday front page. Darmian's move to the San Siro would initially be on loan, for a fee, with a view to a permanent move at the end of the season or in the summer.

    Darmian, who declined spectacularly with United after a strong start following his summer 2015 switch from Torino, is reportedly keen on the move to Inter as he looks to gain more first team football.
    Inter have apparently agreed in principal the main details of the switch, with the finer points to be negotiated in the upcoming weeks. 
    The loan move comes after Inter had a bid for for Darmian rejected on deadline day.

    Signed from Torino for £12.7m just over a year ago, the Italy international struggled with injuries and is apparently not fancied by Jose Mourinho.
    Darmian impressed at Euro 2016, with his ability to play on either flank, but finds himself behind the powerful, pacey Mourinho-type full-backs Antonio Valencia and Fosu-Mensah.
    The Italian has three years left on the four-year deal he signed when brought in by Louis van Gaal.
