Fernandinho is poised to put pen-to-paper on a new bumper Manchester City contract.
The Brazilian, who has become an integral part of Pep Guardiola's plans, has entered the final 12 months of his deal - causing concern at the Etihad Stadium that he could leave for nothing at the end of the season.
City want contract talks wrapped up by the turn of the year when Fernandinho is allowed to discuss a free transfer with foreign clubs.

The 31-year-old had been holding off on deciding his future until he found out where he stood in Guardiola's plans.
But having played regularly, the midfielder is finally ready to sign a two-year extension.
However, City's hopes for keeping talented youngster Tosin Adarabioyo are not so clear cut.
Tottenham and Everton have registered an interest in the 19-year-old defender, whose contract expires at the end of the season.
City are desperate to keep Adarabioyo at the Etihad Stadium and have tried to get the defender to commit to a new deal on several occasions but have so far been frustrated.

The teenager wants assurances over his first-team chances before committing.
And if Adarabioyo believes his pathway into the first-team will be stunted under Pep Guardiola, he is ready to walk away from the club knowing he'll find another Premier League club without much problem.
Guardiola is known to rate Adarabioyo highly and believes the youngster can play a key role for him in the future.
But with a number of players ahead of the central defender in City's squad pecking order, Guardiola may find it difficult to accommodate Adarabioyo in his team at regular intervals.
