3 Lessons From The Just Concluded Ramadan.

Glory be to Allah. Ramadan has come and gone. Allah be glorified for successfully completing it. It's not by our might nor knowledge. But by the wish of Allah.

As usual, I don't let anything go by without learning from it. This Ramadan is not an exception. Here are 3 lessons I learnt in this year's Ramadan.

1. Everything that has a beginning must have an end. Only Allah, the Supreme has neither beginning nor an end. At first, it seems the 30 of fasting was like 30 months for some. But in a twinkle of an eye, it has gone. Just like yesterday. The lesson ro our life is that pains don't last forever. Neither does enjoyment. If that is known, you don't fist on everything you have. Share. Also, you don't grieve forever over a tribulation that befalls you. It's a phase. It will soon be over.

2. Self Realization. Then you realize you can read one complete Qur'an in a month. Even 2. Perhaps 3. You discover you can stand up for tahajud every night. If not for Ramadan some won't know they can sleep late, wake up for tahajud and yet go to work on time. That's one of the powerful lessons of the month.

3. Only Allah decides. He is supreme in His dominion. Most people had thought Monday would be the last day of Ramadan and Tuesday would be Eid, including the writer. In fact I traveled on Monday hoping Tuesday would be Eid. The Federal government too had hastily declared Tuesday and Wednesday as public holiday. But Allah in His supremacy decides Wednesday to be Eidil Fitri. What does that mean. People plan, Allah decides. He is the Supreme decider. If the whole world wants something to be and He doesn't, that thing won't be. And if He wants something to be and the whole world doesn't, that thing will be. If that is the case, what you have today, what you are going through today it's the manifestation of His decision. Not yours. Because He is the Supreme decider.

Eidil Mubaraq.
May Allah accept our worships and grant our heart desires.
