The Nigerian president has sacked three top military chiefs in frustration over their failure to stop Boko Haram, his spokesman revealed.
Muhammadu Buhari is replacing the heads of the country's army, air force and navy as the West African terror group continues its killing spree.
Femi Adesina, a spokesman for the president, said in a statement: 'The President has relieved the service chiefs, including the heads of the army, air force and navy of their appointments.'
Major General Kenneth Minimah, Rear Admiral Usman Jibrin and Air Vice Marshall Adesola Amosu have now all left their positions.
Two are thought to have been replaced already.
Nigeria's military command has been heavily criticised in the last year for its handling of the six-year Boko Haram insurgency, which has forced 1.5 million to flee their homes.
The militants have captured swathes of territory, including towns and villages in the remote north-east, in a quest to establish a hardline Islamic state.
More than 200 schoolgirls were also abducted in Chibok on April 14 last year and have not been found, despite repeated promises from Nigerian military and a global #BringBackOurGirls campaign.
The latest announcement comes as ISIS accepted a pledge of allegiance from the terror group, who killed more than 10,000 people in Nigeria last year alone.
