- Suicide bomber dressed in burqa killed 15 people in capital of Chad
- The full-face and body veil - burqa - was banned in Chad last month
- Police now warn they will arrest anyone wearing burqa in public
Chadian police have warned that they will arrest anyone wearing a burqa after a terrorist attack involving a suicide bomber dressed in the Muslim garment killed 15 people this weekend.
A man disguised as a woman in the full-face veil entered the busy Saturday marked in the capital N'Djamena and detonated what police believe was a bomb vest.
The attack, believed to have been orchestrated by Islamist organisation Boko Haram, also injured 80 and spread panic across the city.
Chad, a predominantly Muslim nation, banned the burqa - a version of the traditional hijab which covers nor just the hair, but also the entire face and body - last month.
'This attack just confirms that a ban' on the full-face veil was justified, national police spokesman Paul Manga said, adding that 'it now must be respected more than ever by the entire population.'
