'I love him like a son': Angel care worker who saved starving Nigerian 'witch boy' reveals joy at his astonishing recovery

  • Anja Loven told MailOnline of the moment she first saw two-year-old Hope
  • 'I was sick to my bones to see him in such a horrible condition,' she said
  • Hope was riddled with worms, barely able to stand when she rescued him
  • He has since made a remarkable recovery and returned to healthy weight

The 'guardian angel' care worker who saved a starving Nigerian boy from certain death after his family disowned him for being a 'witch' has told of her love for the boy after his astonishing recovery.
When Anja Loven first laid eyes on the toddler walking naked through the dusty streets of south-east Nigeria, he was riddled with worms and so weak he could barely stand.
So Anja gave him a name to give him the strength to recover: Hope.
Her faith paid off, and the little boy's recovery since has been nothing short of a miracle – as these pictures shared exclusively with MailOnline go to show.
