Juventus look to tie down Chelsea target Leonardo Bonucci with new £100,000-a-week contract

Juventus have opened talks with Leonardo Bonucci over a new contract in a bid to stave off January interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
The Italy international defender is a target for both Premier League sides as they consider strengthening their options, however, any prospective move to England will depend on Bonucci's family situation.
Bonucci, a key figure for coach Antonio Conte during Italy's Euro 2016 campaign, has been keen to stay in Italy as his two-year old son Matteo has been seriously ill and underwent surgery in July.

The 29-year-old defender spoke emotionally at Italy's press conference ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Spain, saying: 'What happened made me stronger.
'I want to thank my son and my wife because we have faced a difficult time and we will continue fighting it.'
Bonucci is under contract with Juventus until 2020 but they have offered an extension with improved terms worth around £100,000 a week.

Chelsea and City courted the player and his representatives in the summer.
They can double the offer from Juventus and pay a substantial fee but Bonucci's family and particularly son Matteo's recovery will be paramount to any decision.
He will not wish to uproot them at such an important stage.
