England players baffled over Kane on corners

England players are confused by Roy Hodgson’s decision to put Harry Kane on corner-taking duties, according to reports.
In the Daily Mail, Sami Mokbel writes that, while England players have backed Hodgson’s tactic publicly, behind closed doors they are little less supportive.
Kane’s corner-taking has been criticised on two counts. The first is that he would better deployed making a nuisance of himself in the box. The second is that he isn’t very good at taking corners. Both are valid.
Alan Shearer also had his say on the issue, disagreeing that Kane was the right man for the job.

“He is England’s No 1 centre-forward and one of our best headers of a ball,” Shearer wrote in The Sun.
“So why on earth is Roy Hodgson asking him to take corners? It is like asking Lewis Hamilton to change his own tyres.
“Kane is well within his rights to pull Roy Hodgson to one side in training this week and say, ‘I don’t think I should be taking corners – I want to be in the box getting on the end of them’.
“Why can’t Wayne Rooney or Adam Lallana take them? Let’s be honest, if you are a midfielder playing for England and you have not got the ability to take a corner, you should not be on the pitch.”

Some have pointed out (quite rightly) that Kane hasn’t scored many headers in his career, and fewer still from corners, but that doesn’t change the fact that he would surely be better swapping places with Lallana.
