Prostitutes Have Taken Over My Community, Abuja Chief Laments

Adelani Adepegba, Abuja

The leader of Utako Community, Abuja, Alhaji Abdullahi Isha, has cried out to the police over the influx of sex hawkers into the community.

He lamented that the presence of the prostitutes had also attracted men of shady characters to the community.

Isah, who said this during the Federal Capital Territory Eminent Persons Forum organised by the police on Tuesday in Abuja, called on the FCT Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Mustafa, to come to the rescue of his community.

The chief expressed displeasure over the activities of the sex hawkers and pleaded with the police authorities to deploy personnel to the community to arrest the development and restore sanity to the area.

He said, “I want to call the attention of the Commissioner of Police to the activities of prostitutes who have taken over my community. Their population in the community has increased in recent times and they are also attracting criminal elements. We want the police to come and address the situation before things get out of hand.”

A participant at the forum, who is a retired commissioner of police, Lawrence Alobi, called on the FCT residents to support the police financially, noting that the Force was not getting enough funding for its operations.

He argued that the police would perform better, if provided with the necessary equipment and logistics.

He admonished the residents to emulate Lagos State, which he said empowered the police with vehicles, helicopters and other equipment to enable them to perform their responsibilities more effectively.

“Let us all support the police financially, even with N100 every month. You can’t send a child to fetch water with empty hands,” he stated.

Presenting what he described as his scorecard, Mustafa said the FCT Police Command had arrested 408 suspects, prosecuted 247 and secured the conviction of 216 between August and October, 2016.

He also explained that his men recovered from suspects, 42 firearms, 250 ammunition, 27 bags of cannabis, 72 vehicles, 44 motorcycles, and over N3mn cash.

The CP said, “Having identified through intelligence that ‘one chance’ robbers have designated certain spots they use as shrines to dispossess their victims, the command has launched a campaign to destroy the shrines and a lot of shrines have so far been destroyed. The operation will be sustained,” Mustafa said.

Rector Of Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe Dies During Sex With Teenager

UGHELLI- THE Acting Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, has slumped and died at a hotel in Ughelli during alleged sex romp with an unidentified female teenager.

The rector was said to have slumped at his hotel room in Zekoh Place located at Onoharigho street, Ughelli and was rushed to a private clinic, few kilometers from the hotel were he was confirmed dead on arrival.

“He had gone to the hotel in company of a female teenager and booked a room for an hour of love session with the girl,” a source at the Ughelli Area Command told Vanguard.

Speaking further, the source said: “The girl raised an alarm when the chief slumped but absconded following reports that the victim was confirmed dead. “Though no arrest has been made in connection with the incident, a female manager of the hotel was arrested for questioning but has since been released.”

Suspecting foul play over the incident, a family member who spoke to Vanguard at the Rector’s Upper Agbarho residence said: “We are having a meeting with elders of the family if an autopsy would be conducted after which we would take a stand on the matter.”

Why We Need N222 Billion To Conduct Nigeria’s 2018 Census – NPC Chairman

222BN?

Eze Duruiheoma, Chairman, National Population Commission (NPC) said that the planned 2018 National Population and Housing census will gulp N222 billion.

Mr. Duruiheoma said this on Tuesday in Akwanga, Nasarawa State at the review workshop of Phases 1 and 2 of Enumeration Area Demarcation (EAD) as well as training of the trainers for the 2018 census.

He said the fund would be used to conduct a scientific census that can stand the test of time despite the dwindling resources of the country.

The chairman explained that the budget had been spread over four years to handle different components of the census exercise.

Mr. Duruiheoma said the money was for procurement of hand-held devices for the biometric based census; engagement of 1. 5 million field staff; training of field officers and other preparatory activities.

He said the commission was not unaware of the concerns raised in some quarters about the affordability of the census budget.

Mr. Duruiheoma, however, noted that the benefit of the census to the nation outweigh immediate financial considerations.

“There is no better time to conduct a census than in this period of economic recession.

“Coming out of a recession is definitely a complex and difficult task that can be made easier through demographic data as a compass for economic revival Programme.

“Census will serve as a guide in identifying human elements that can be exploited for development process and formation of people responsive welfare Programme,” Mr. Duruiheoma said.

The NPC boss maintained that the EAD was the bedrock of the census and formed the basis for the planning and execution of the census project.

He explained that the EAD exercise involve the division of the country into small geographical areas to facilitate enumeration and scientifically verify doubts and contentions.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the EAD exercise is not the enumeration of persons living in the country and its outcome will not in any way determine the population of any community, local government or state,” he said.

He emphasized the need for the training the trainers exercise saying, “the quality of the personnel for the EAD has great impact on the outcome.”

Mr. Duruiheoma said the commission was not leaving any stone unturned in order to ensure that the EAD for the 2018 census was carried out meticulously, professionally and scientifically.

According to the NPC boss, the 2018 census would be free of manipulation through the EAD as it would be biometric based requiring the capture of finger prints and facial impression of persons during the exercise.

He said that the phase 3 of the EAD would be concluded by February 2017, when 74 local government areas in the country would have been completely demarcated.

Mr. Duruiheoma said it would involve two LGAs in each state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

He added that other local government areas would be covered in subsequent phases depending on availability of funds.

He urged Nigerians not to treat census as an extension of politics driven by narrow political consideration at the expense of collective national interest.

Suleiman Hunkuyi, Chairman Senate Committee on National Population and Identity, in a remark, assured the NPC of the senate’s unflinching support to ensure the successful conduct of the 2018 census . (NAN)

I Approved DSS Raids & Arrest Of Judges - AGF, Malami Abubakar Says

The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, said on Tuesday that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had no exclusive rights to any investigations, including matters relating solely to financial crimes.

He also said his office received full briefing and gave backing to the arrest of some judges by the Department of State Services over allegations of corruption last month.

Malami spoke in Abuja as he appeared before an ad hoc committee of the House of Representatives at the National Assembly.

The committee, which is chaired by Mr. Garba Dhatti, is investigating all cases of invasion of property and arrests of persons by the DSS from May 2015 till date.

The AGF said there were reasonable grounds to justify the arrest of the judges, looking at the high number of petitions that had been received by his office, the DSS, EFCC and other anti-graft agencies.

Citing Section 15 (5) of the 1999 Constitution, he stated that the state had a responsibility to halt all acts of corruption and could deploy any agency with the capacity to achieve that purpose.

He also said the state waded into the matter after the National Judicial Council was duly notified but was not willing to act.

Malami also told the session that judges had no immunity against prosecution, adding that there was no requirement of law which stipulated that only the EFCC must investigate financial crimes.

His position was a clear reference to an earlier submission to the committee by the EFCC. The anti-graft agency had insisted that the DSS acted outside its jurisdiction since the alleged offence of the judges fell under financial crime and did not pose a threat to national security.

Asked whether he ordered the raids on the homes of the judges, Malami replied, “When we are talking about constitutional obligations, it goes without saying that all state instruments, Ministries, Departments and Agencies are under obligation, inclusive of the legislature and the judiciary, to take steps that will abolish all corrupt practices.

“It is in respect of that obligation that whatever issues that arose from the search and arrest of the judicial officers were carried out.

“The state was in receipt of multiple petitions of corrupt practices by the judicial officers and there was further apprehension that if immediate steps were not taken, the possibility of destroying existing evidence that were believed to have been kept within their respective domains would eventually be tampered with.

“Arising from the responsibility created and established by Section 15 of the constitution, the state had to act.

“But, the question of which agency has the responsibility of executing it, my response to that derives from the fact that multiple petitions were written to the Office of the AGF, DSS, EFCC and a lot of other agencies of government.

“To my mind, I have a discretion to look at and weigh the situation and decide which agency against the background of the petition, who will act for the purpose of ensuring that the obligation of the provisions of Section 15 (5) of the constitution are carried out.

“So, whatever evolved from the search and arrest of the judicial officers revolved around the need to comply with the responsibility and obligation vested in them by provisions of the constitution and the need to ensure that the investigation was not in any way tampered with negatively.

“These were the circumstances that led to the operations. It was a clear exercise of the constitutional mandate in respect of what is expected of the State to abolish corrupt practices.”

The AGF explained how his office felt compelled to act after it became apparent that the NJC would not act on the petitions before it.

He added, “When we got the petitions, I had cause personally to write to the NJC, requesting that they take administrative steps to investigate the allegations contained in the petitions.

“A response was made to my office that the NJC could not act unless the petitions were accompanied with affidavits. But, I felt there were no reasons why the petitions could not be looked into on their own merit by placing sanctions on the AGF, while it was a constitutional obligation.

“Incidentally, multiple petitions were also written to the DSS and I requested that they equally write to the NJC to look into the petitions, but it was the same response the DSS got from the NJC that without a supporting affidavit the petitions could not be looked into.

“So, we have a situation where there is reasonable grounds for suspicion for commission of corruption and we have a body saddled with the primary administrative responsibility of looking at such things first, but it seems not to be cooperating in that respect.

“Meanwhile, when issue of commission of corruption practice is established, the executive has the responsibility of investigation without recourse to the judiciary.

“That is how the idea of taking the advantage of Section 15 (5) arose.

“I asked the EFCC and the DSS and another agency to investigate because they were in receipt of several petitions on the same subject and I was informed by the DSS before the search and arrest and I did not object.”

Malami further disclosed how he received reports on the raids.

He said, “The DSS presented a formal report to me before and after effecting the search and arrest; they informed me that the operation will be done at any hour without restriction.

“I had no objection that the operation would be carried out at night because I have taken time to go through the administration of Criminal Justice Act and I was convinced that this operation can be conducted at any hour, any moment without restriction.

“I didn’t have to inform the Inspector-General of Police or Commissioner of Police in the State about the DSS operation because they were also under the same constitutional obligation to act. One of the agencies had investigated, came up with a report and I was convinced.”

Power Generation At Egbin Drops By 84% To 172MW

’Femi Asu

The nation’s electricity woes have worsened as generation from its biggest power station, Egbin, plunged to a record low of 172 megawatts on Tuesday, down from 1,085MW on March 15.

Eight of the nation’s 26 power plants were idle on Tuesday, according to industry data obtained by our correspondent.

Generation from Egbin, which is located in Lagos, with an installed capacity of 1,320MW, was said to have been limited to 172MW largely due to gas supply shortages.

Its units ST3, 4 and 5 were out due to gas constraints; ST1 was said to have tripped on generator CB trouble, and ST2 was not on spinning reserve due to a management decision.

The nation recorded a total system collapse on Thursday, November 24, the second time this month and the 20th time this year, the data showed.

The total national power generation fell to 3,224MW on Tuesday, down from 3,574.2MW on Monday.

Eight of the nation’s power generating plants, including Olorunsogo II in Ogun State and Ibom Power in Cross River, were completely idle on Tuesday.

Other plants, which did not generate any megawatts of electricity as of Tuesday, were Afam IV & V, Rivers IPP, Trans-Amadi, AES, ASCO and Gbarain.

Olorunsogo’s units GT1, 2, 3, 4 and ST2 were said to be out due to gas constraints, while ST1 was out on maintenance.

The GT1 unit of Ibom Power was out on guide vane problem, while GT2 and 3 were out due to maintenance of the gas station for 45 days since October 21.

Twelve units of Afam IV & V were said to have been de-commissioned and scrapped; units GT13, 14, 15 and 16 were out on blade failure; GT17 and 18 were out due to burnt generator transformer, while GT19 and 20 were awaiting major overhaul.

River IPP’s unit GT1 was reportedly out due to gas constraints, while Trans-Amadi’s GT1, 2 and 4 were out due to gas constraints and GT3 out on fault.

The AES was said to be out of production; ASCO’s GT1 was shut down due to leakage in the furnace, and Gbarain’s GT2 was out due to gas constraints.

What’s Every Country Best At In The World? Nigeria's Will Surprise You

Every country is the best at something; even if it’s a bad thing, like murder, child marriages or spam email.

The aptly-named Information is Beautiful website has sifted through piles of data from the UN, the CIA, the Guardian and a bunch of other places to compile a world map that awards a gold star to just about every country on the planet.

The accolades come in nine different types: Commodity (pink), Psychology (light blue), Ecology (green), Gastronomy (purple), Economy (gray), Nicety (yellow), Humanity (dark blue), Technology (red) and Nasty (black).

Some firsts are expected, or at least not surprising:
Sweden is #1 in pop music,
North Korea has more soldiers relative to its population than any other country,
Cuba leads in doctors per capita and
Afghanistan is the world capital of opium production.

Other world records we are storing for that pub quiz to end all pub quizzes.
Fastest wifi: Lithuania.
Most Facebook addicts: Canada.
Most Scrabble players: Nigeria. grin
Most languages: Zimbabwe.

Most diamonds per capita: Botswana.

And then there are those records are that surprising, or even downright shocking.
Did you know that the biggest whisky-drinkers in the world are… the French?
Or that the biggest cheese-eaters are… the Greeks?
That nobody consumes more gay porn than… Pakistan? shocked
Or that most brazil nuts are produced by… Bolivia?
(Brazil itself beats everybody else in sugar production).

Healthiest people on the planet: Singaporeans

Scoring a distinction in the black category is a reverse compliment.
Which country wants to be first in murders? None – but the accolade goes to Honduras nonetheless.
Similar blemishes on national records are noted for Namibia (most car crashes),
Eritrea (most child labour),
China (most jailed journalists)
and
Mongolia (most velociraptors – although that can’t be a current problem. Can it?)

World’s most positive people: Paraguayans

Looking at the map, one can’t help but feel that some countries could definitely benefit from being introduced to each other.
Like Colombia (most happiness) and Togo (most unhappiness),
Spain (highest LGBT tolerance) and Georgia (most homophobes), and
Zambia (most female entrepreneurs) and Yemen (most gender inequality).

World-leading innovators: the Swiss

Talking of which, these stats may be fairly random, but there does appear to be something good going on in East Africa re gender equality: most female entrepreneurs, but also most female workers and most women in parliament.

And the U.S.? It leads the world in… spam emails.
Take that, Nigeria!

Nigerians React To Proposed Hike In Cost Of Data

Some ICT stakeholders have expressed mixed reaction to the proposed increase in the cost of data by some telecommunication operators from Dec. 1, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.

NAN recalls that some telecommunication companies have been sending out messages to subscribers that they will increase data rate from Dec. 1, in line with the Nigeria Communications Commission’s order.

Mr Olusola Teniola, the President Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) said that with the increase, other telecom companies would jerk up their prices, which would adversely affect subscribers.

He said that operators would also increase the cost of megabytes, which consumers could not afford at this time of economic recession.

“So what we are saying at ATCON is that no taxes should be applied in this industry and if there any taxes, it should also include other sectors.

“Already, the cost of data will go up in December and subscribers will not be getting as much data as they paid for,’’ he said.

Mr Edwin Okolo, a computer scientist said that the increase in the cost of data “is uncalled for’’, adding that there should be other avenues for government to make money.

“What we are saying is that we want every Nigerian to be linked with the internet and you are planning to increase the cost of data, so it is no longer for the poor,’’ he said.

However, Mr Adede Williams, the National President of Telecommunications Professionals of Nigeria sought the understanding of subscribers in the proposed increase.

Williams said that some stakeholders in the telecom sector were soliciting the understanding of the subscribers in the increase.

“We the stakeholders are appealing to the subscriber to have a little understanding for to have effective service delivery.

“If you check out the tariff, it is just a slight difference from what we use to have, so that is the true position of things now.

“Some of the subscribers have been informed before now of the tariff increase.

“I know it is not easy but it is just because of the trend of what is happening in the country,’’ he said. (NAN)

Lagos Presents N813bn Budget, Nigeria's Biggest Ever State Budget

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode (right), delivering his speech during the presentation of the Y2017 Budget Estimates to the House, at the Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016. With him are Speaker, Lagos House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa (behind) and the acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Azeez Adebowale Sanni (left).
The Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Tuesday presented the 2017 budget proposal of N813 billion to the House of Assembly, assuring that the budget would be judiciously implemented to continue the infrastructural renewal and the enhancement of Lagos as one of the foremost tourism and investment destination in Africa.

Mr. Ambode, who tagged the budget “The Golden Jubilee Budget” as it coincides with the State’s 50th Anniversary, said it would focus on physical infrastructure, while social sectors especially health, education, youth and social development would get adequate attention.

“In the course of the 2017 Financial Year, we shall carry out fundamental reforms on all our modes of transportation – Roads, Water and the Walkways. In this wise, a Public Transport Infrastructure Bond will be issued in the course of the year,” Mr. Ambode said.

“The State Government will embark on the Urbanisation of the Marina axis, Waterways Channelization, establishment of more Parks and Gardens as well as the Community Sports Centres and Stadiums in different locations across the State.”

The 2017 budget saw an increase by N150 billion from the 2016 budget.

The budget is also the biggest for any Nigerian state ever.

Giving the key components of the budget, Governor Ambode said recurrent expenditure would gulp N300. 535 billion while N512.464 billion would be dedicated to capital expenditure, representing a Capital/Recurrent ratio of 63 percent to 37 percent.

According to the governor, road construction, rehabilitation and maintenance would be one of the key focuses of the budget, adding that efforts would be geared towards roads that will open up the hinterlands, improve connectivity in the State and reduce travel time.

He listed some of the road projects to include Murtala Mohammed International Airport Road from Oshodi, Agric-Isawo-Owotu-Arepo Road in Ikorodu, Igbe-Igbogbo Phase II- Bola Tinubu Way in Ikorodu, Ijegun Imore Phase II Amuwo in Ojo axis, Oke-Oso-Araga-Poka in Epe, Epe-Poka-Mojoda in the Epe axis and the completion of the Abule-Egba, Ajah and Pen Cinema flyovers.

The governor also said that within the course of the budget implementation, his administration would enter into a Public Private Partnership (PPP) to execute some road projects including Oke Oso-Itoikin dualisation Project in the Epe axis, Okokomaiko-Seme Road Project in Badagry axis and Ikorodu-Agbowa-Itoikin-Ijebu Ode Road Project in Ikorodu axis, just as he disclosed that the Phase II of the 114 Local Government Roads project as well as the construction of the Fourth Mainland Bridge would also kick off in 2017.

“We will fully implement the Medical Health Insurance Scheme and deploy e-Health/ e-insurance Health Service solutions; and complete the on-going upgrading and extension work in the State General Hospitals and Ayinke House in Ikeja. Work will commence on our Medical Park in the 2017 fiscal year,” Mr. Ambode said.

On the revenue expected from federal allocation, the governor said a conservative approach was taken owing to the falling oil prices, which according to him, was about $41.98per barrel at the time of finalising the budget.

He, however, expressed optimism that the state would get an increase in Federal allocation through the 13 percent derivation from Oil and Gas in 2017.

“In view of our financing gap, we shall continue to sustain deficit financing in the short-to-medium term; enhance revenue growth throughout the year on several initiatives including automation and efficient revenue administration,” the governor said.

Giving a sectoral breakdown of the 2017 Budget Estimates, Commissioner for Finance, Akinyemi Ashade, said the governor earmarked N205.85 billion for General Public Services representing 25.32 percent of the budget, N36.43 billion to Public Order and Safety, representing 4.48 percent, while Economic Affairs received a lion share of N295.84 billion representing 36.39 percent.

In other sectors, the commissioner said Environment got N56.31 billion, representing 6.93 percent, Health got N57.29 billion representing 7.05 percent, while Education got N92.4 billion representing 11.37 percent of the budget.

The Commissioner also said the budget would be funded from a total revenue estimate of N642.849billion while the balance of N170.150billion would be funded through a N100bn Bond Issuance program and a combination of internal and external loans.

Receiving the Budget, Speaker of the House, Mudashiru Obasa, commended Mr. Ambode for keeping faith with the 2016 budget in the area of implementation, adding that Lagos has witnessed a quantum leap in the last one year.

Mr. Obasa, while assuring the governor that members of the House would give the 2017 fiscal document due diligence for the benefit of Lagosians, called on the Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to furnish the House with all the necessary documents to enable it fast-track the budget approval process.

The Lagos Speaker also seized the occasion to call on the Senate to reconsider the Special Status Bill for Lagos State, saying there was no better time to accord the State such recognition.

Harry Redknapp has told the tale of how he nearly signed world-class stars Luis Suarez and Eden Hazard during his time at Tottenham Hotspur and believes that they would have transformed his side into title contenders.
In 2009-2010, his first full campaign with the club, Redknapp won the Premier League Manager of the Year award as he guided Spurs to their most successful Premier League finish and a place in the Champions League.

Redknapp continued: 'I spent three hours with Hazard in a hotel room in Paris – I met him at the airport - he was dead keen to come to Tottenham.
'We were right down the road with Hazard and Luis Suarez was the best player in the Premier League a few years ago when he was at Liverpool, he was fantastic.
'If we just got one of those in, we had a team that could have challenged for the title.'

An injury to the hamstring of his left thigh has been identified, leaving him with a predicted recovery time of around 45/60 days,' the club said in a statement.
The injury may put a firm end to speculation suggesting that a move to the Premier League could happen come the turn of the new year.
Chelsea have been linked with a move for the defender who was a key part of Antonio Conte's Italy side at Euro 2016.

Juventus keeping tabs on out-of-favour Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic

Juventus are weighing up a January move for Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
The Serbia international has been on the bench during Chelsea's resurgence under Antonio Conte with his last start for the club coming in the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal.
Ivanovic can speak to foreign clubs from January and Juventus are drawing up a shortlist of targets as they seek cover for the injured Leonardo Bonucci and Dani Alves.

Ivanovic has still made 15 appearances this season and remains captain of Serbia. Juventus believe his uncompromising style would suit the Italian league and that he would be less exposed for any lack of pace with the way they set up.

The Italian league leaders have the promising Daniele Rugani at centre back but have concerns over the ongoing fitness of Georgio Chiellini while Medhi Benatia is due to join up with Morocco for the Africa Cup of Nations. Bonucci is out for two months, Alves has a broken leg and Andrea Barzagli is out until January.

The 32-year-old Ivanovic is still wanted at Chelsea by owner Roman Abramovich but is keen to play regularly and will consider approaches. Chelsea want to add another centre-back while they will also welcome back Andreas Christensen from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach in the summer.
Premier League sides are also showing interest in Ivanovic.
Meanwhile, Juventus are continuing to follow Everton striker Romelu Lukaku although any prospective deal is more likely to be for next summer. Juventus expect to lose Mario Mandzukic who has interest from England and China.

Liverpool target Christian Pulisic is the 'average 18-year-old kid' with extraordinary talents

Liverpool are among a number of clubs showing a keen interest in Christian Pulisic - the youngster tipped to be the next big thing in world football.
Sportsmail takes a closer look at the teenager creating so much excitement in boardrooms around Europe.

A major 18-year-old talent from Borussia Dortmund. This is his breakthrough season, scoring twice in 14 appearances, and playing the full 90 minutes of the epic 8-4 Champions League win against Legia Warsaw.
IS HE GERMAN? PULISIC SOUNDS IT COULD BE SERBIAN
Neither. Pulisic is American, born in Hershey, Pennsylvania and he became the youngest ever American international to play in a World Cup qualifier when Jurgen Klinsmann handed him a debut in March aged 17 years, 193 days.
WHAT IS IT THAT LIVERPOOL AND OTHER BIG CLUBS LIKE?
He's as quick and direct as you'd expect from a natural winger, but unlike a lot of wide men he's also technically very good and has end product in terms of assists and goals.

EXCLUSIVE CHRISTIAN PULISIC INTERVIEW

Read our exclusive interview with the Borussia Dortmund youngster from early November
He's already scored four senior goals for Dortmund since making his debut in January and only turned 18 in September. He is the youngest ever overseas player to score in the Bundesliga.
He can run, dribble and flick, and of course, being a winger, he's got a decent nutmeg in his locker.
WILL SUCCESS GO TO HIS HEAD?
The early signs are promising. 'I'm no different to any other average kid,' says football's newest wonderboy, who lists watching Netflix and playing FIFA and NHL as his hobbies away from the game.
His former national team manager Klinsmann believes playing in Germany will help him keep his feet on the ground.
'The fact that Dortmund is a very intense environment is helpful because they put him in line right away,' he says.

HOW DID PULISIC END UP IN GERMANY
His father played professional indoor soccer in America and realised early on his son had special ability. Young Christian travelled to Europe and trained with Chelsea, Barcelona, Porto, Villarreal and PSV.
Dortmund watched him play in a 2013 Nike junior tournament in which Pulisic helped USA beat Brazil 4-1 and later won the competition's MVP.
They invited him over for a trial and liked what they saw. As for Pulisic, he said: 'It was too good an opportunity to turn down.'

WILL JURGEN KLOPP'S DORTMUND CONNECTIONS HELP HIM GET THE PLAYER?
They won't do any harm. Klopp, whose time at Dortmund briefly overlapped with Pulisic, heard about the American's stunning progress early and despatched Liverpool scouts as early as April to keep an eye on how he was doing.
There were reports an £11million bid had been tabled last summer and with Philippe Coutinho and Danny Ings injured, they may go in bigger and bolder in January.
Dortmund, who have already qualified for the knockout stages of the Champions League, may have something to say about that however.

WILL HE TURN OUT TO BE ANOTHER FREDDIE ADU?
Unlikely. Adu was hyped at 14 appearing on major US chat shows before sinking without trace when he came to Europe.
Pulisic has already played a number of important first-team matches with stars like Matts Hummels and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
He has a clever coach Thomas Tuchel overseeing his development and his injury-time equaliser this season against Ingolstadt suggests he has the temperament to handle big moments in matches.
'He has our trust,' says Tuchel, who has recently stopped using Pulisic as a super-sub and started him in big games.
