He asserted that the Gas pipeline site is the largest industrial site in the world and there is an extremely good relationship with the community.

“This Gas pipeline sight is eight times the size of Victoria Island. It was designed to process a large variety of crudes, including all the African crudes, a range of Middle Eastern crudes and US crudes. The refinery has flexibility to convert kerosene to jet/diesel,” he added

Dangote noted that his business policy is not solely for profit making but to make Nigerians happy, saying “I am a proud Nigerian. I do not own even a 9inch block outside Nigeria. When I travel, I stay in a hotel”. He stated that for instance, “Dangote cement, if we take it to Ghana, we will make N500 on each bag, but we didn’t do that.

We (Dangote Group) are attacking the economy with a policy of no more import, which will create jobs. We are suffering today because we have not diversify the economy of Nigeria.” Expressing satisfaction over the ongoing Gas pipeline, Vice President Osinbajo, said the project will supply three billion cubic feet of gas daily and had the potential of solving the problem of electricity shortage which had plagued the nation for decades. According to him, the investment as a whole was an incredible industrial project being the largest and the most ambitious in Africa and possibly the entire world. Addressing journalists after a two-hour presentation on the entire project, Osinbajo described the Gas pipeline as a major asset for the country, if it can be done. “For me, that is the most important project that could be done in this country. It will be a major boost for industrial development,” he stated. Osinbajo opined that at the completion of the Gas pipeline, it is meant to refine 650,000 barrels per day. He said, “By all projection, it is the largest in the world. It has a petro-chemical plant. It also has fertilizer plant, which is projected to be the largest in the world. “The refinery will take off in the first quarter of 2019. I think the sub-sea gas pipeline,

which is very important project, is meant to take off in 2018. “The gas pipeline project there. It is an incredible industrial undertaking. It is possibly the largest and the most ambitious on the continent today. It is truly inspiring” Dignitaries that accompanied Osinbajo to the refinery site are the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; Minister of Works, Power & Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN); Minister of Industry, Trade & Investment, Mr. Okechukwu Enelamah; Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun and former Ekiti State Governor, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo among others.

Why I Won't Seek Vengeance Against Killers Of Abuja Preacher- Adeboye

WHY I WON’T SEEK VENGEANCE AGAINST KILLERS OF ABUJA PREACHER -ADEBOYE

General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed why he will not seek vengeance against killers of Abuja preacher, Deaconess Eunice Olawale Elisha.

Forty-two-year old Mrs Elisha was hacked to death by hoodlums on June 9 at Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory while preaching early in the morning.

She was an assistant pastor at the RCCG, Divine Touch parish, Old NEPA road, Phase 4, Kubwa, before she was slashed in the neck and stabbed in the stomach by suspected religious fanatics.

Adeboye, fondly called Daddy G.O by his admirers, said contrary to calls by eminent Nigerians that he should seek vengeance against killers of the evangelist, he would not do so.

He said such move would be counterproductive just as it would be contrary to what the deceased wanted and stood for when she was martyred.

According to the revered man of God, if Dcns Elisha was actually preaching to win souls for Jesus Christ, it would be unscriptural and anti-Christ to seek to kill the same souls she sought to save.

Adeboye made the declaration on the occasion of the second day of the ongoing Ministers Conference at the Redemption Camp, Kilometer 46, Lagos – Ibadan Expressway on Friday morning ahead the 64 annual convention starting August 1.

“I’m not looking for vengeance. I won’t listen to people asking me to seek vengeance.

“I won’t pursue the case. That’ll be contrary to what she wanted.

“She wanted them saved, not killed.

“What will their killing do for me?,” the 74-year-old cleric queried.

Teaching on the topic, “Importance of Mercy,” Adeboye said since every Christian did not know when they would die, the time to truly seek God was now.

Making an example out of the slain Mrs Elisha whom he said was not aware she won’t return home alive on that fateful day, the Ifewara-born cleric warned that the end of the age was imminent, hence the prevalence of vices all over the world.

He said the murdered evangelist finished well and was, no doubt, sitting at the right hand of her Saviour for whom she paid the supreme price.

“Recently, some hoodlums went to murder my daughter in Abuja.

“She was doing her morning cry that morning as she usually did, armed with a megaphone and her Bible.

“An Imam was said to have sent some hoodlums to drive her away, but they did something else.

“She didn’t know she won’t return home that day.

“She finished well. She finished strong

“What a beautiful way to go. She’s gone to be with the Lord,” he stated glowingly.

The man of God said that his joy was predicated on the fact that another soul was waiting for him in Heaven.

“My joy is that she finished well and I have additional soul waiting to welcome me in Heaven when it is my time,” Adeboye noted.

It will be recalled that husband of the slain evangelist, Pastor Elisha had, earlier, expressed misgivings in killing whoever was caught in connection with the murder, saying he would rather they gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

Describing his wife as a martyr, he said: “I see her as a martyr, and she died for Christ. And whether the people are caught or not, they should forgive them; my prayer is that if they can accept Christ, that will be a gain to Christ.”

The slain lady evangelist, who left behind his husband, aged father, mother and seven children, was buried last Saturday in Abuja.

Simon Petrus Invented Phone In Namibia Which Does Not Use Airtime

A Grade 12 learner in Namibia’s Ohagwena Region has invented a sim-less mobile phone that allows users to make free calls and watch one TV channel.

Simon Petrus, a pupil at Abraham Iyambo Senior Secondary School, created the phone using spares from a phone and television set.

Complete with a light bulb, fan and charger socket, the handset functions off power supplied through a radiator and is able to make calls to anywhere through the use of radio frequencies.

The invention, which is made up of a radio system, is attached to a box and also allows the user to view one TV channel on it.

He is also able to watch NBC1 TV on his box.

No stranger to the world of creation, Petrus is reported to have won a gold medal at national level last year for his invention of a two-in-one machine that works as both a seed drier and cooler.

The shy learner has admitted to working on his invention for two years through money provided by his unemployed parents.

20 English Words To Avoid When In Other Countries

If you travel abroad frequently for work, or if you have an e-commerce store with customers from all over the world, it’s worth noting that there are a number of English words that, phonetically, don’t work in other countries and can lead to double entendre or unintended offence territory. Here are 20 of them to help you ensure that your communication isn’t lost in translation.

France
Preservative. Avoid asking about preservatives in France; you’ll probably be met with strange looks. It means ‘condom’ in France.

Norway
Pick. If you’re visiting Norway, don’t use the word ‘pick’. Your Norwegian colleague is unlikely to be impressed - it means ‘dick’ over there.

Fitter. Does your business specialise in fitness products? Be mindful that in Norway, the word ‘fitte’ refers to a woman’s genitals.

Turkey
Peach. Going to Turkey? Avoid asking for a peach in the supermarket or anywhere else for that matter. It means ‘bastard’ in Turkish.

Germany
Gift. ‘Never look a gift horse in the mouth’, we’re told; perhaps more so in Germany where the word means ‘poison’.

Latte. In Germany, latte doesn’t mean the frothy, milky concoction you get from your local Starbucks. It means ‘erect joystick’ in some German quarters.

Korea
Salsa. Out for a Mexican in Korea? It’s probably best not to ask for salsa: it means ‘diarrhoea’ in Korean.

Sweden
Speed. Try not to talk about speed when in the company of others in Sweden. It means ‘fart’.

Bump. If you’ve had the misfortune of a bump on your car, note that the word ‘bump’ in Swedish means ‘dump’.

Speed bump. Put the above two words together and you have the phrase ‘speed bump’, which in Swedish means fart dump.

Kiss. If you ask your Swedish host or hostess for a kiss, they might very well direct you to the toilets. In Swedish, the word means ‘pee’.

Portugal
Pay Day. If you’re in Portugal, refrain from singing with happiness that it’s ‘pay day’. No one will be impressed. In Portuguese it means “I farted”.

Exquisite. Extend a compliment to your Portuguese host by describing something belonging to them as ‘exquisite’ and you might be met with askance looks: ‘esquisito’ in Portuguese means ‘weird’.

Hungary
Cookie. If you’re visiting Hungary, whether on business or for pleasure, avoid asking for a cookie. It means ‘small joystick’ in Hungarian.

Japan
Jerry. It’s perhaps a little late for Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, but if you’re in Japan, avoid using the word – it means ‘diarrhoea’ over there.

France
Bra. Do you sell luxury underwear? Whilst you and I might initially understand the word to mean a garment that covers the breasts, if you’re in France your French colleagues might think you’re selling arms. Literally.

Italy
Tremendous. Refrain from boasting about the tremendous prices you offer your clients. In this country, ‘tremendo’ is the word for ‘terrible’.

Netherlands
Bill. Asking for the bill might raise a few guffaws in the Netherlands: ‘bil’ means ‘buttocks’ there.

Lager. It might confuse your Dutch colleagues if you were to ask for a ‘lager’ when having a few drinks with them after work. Lager means ‘storage’ in Dutch.

Spain
Cool. The word cool is too close for comfort to the Spanish word ’culo’; a crude term for ’bum’. Best avoided.

Tomato Price Crashes From N25,000 To N800 Per Basket

A small basket of tomato, which sold for N25,000 in May, is now going for N800 in Kaduna. And, no, it is not a joke.

It had been all anger and pain for households as the price of tomatoes hit the roof across the country as a result of scarcity caused by tuta absoluta, also known as ‘tomatoc ebola’.

This affected the crop in most parts of the north-west, notably Kaduna, Jigawa, Katsina and Kano states.

As a result, the basket prices jumped from the range of N800-N1200 to between N25,000 and N40,000 at the height of the crisis.

At the Line Dogo (Rail Line) tomatoes and vegetable market in Kaduna on Saturday, it was a beehive of activities.

Buyers could not believe their eyes as tomato prices had crashed to a two-month low.

Abass Mai Tumatur, chairman of the tomato sellers, told TheCable it was a “pleasant relief” for everyone as tomato is now available and in large quantities.

Mai Tumatur: Things are getting better

“Tomato scarcity is nothing new, but it was made worse this year  by the invasion of the moth,” he said.

He said the insects mutate more during the dry season but don’t survive during the rainy season.

“The rains coupled with the efforts of government have helped tremendously in making tomato available,” he said, praising the government for the “timely intervention”.

He assured the public that the fear is gone now “and hopefully for good”.

Farmers were left stranded and helpless as the moth ravaged their farms and left destruction across the farming community, making a pot of soup as expensive as gold.

Hotels and restaurants, in particular, faced a nightmare as the crisis also shot up the price of canned tomato paste.

Many were not aware of the reasons for the scarcity as frantic efforts were made to to address the situation.

Nasir el-Rufai, the Kaduna state governor, declared a state of emergency and dispatched officials to Kenya to find ways of tackling the ravaging insects.

The cost of the destruction in the state, according to el-Rufai, was close to N1 billion.

Audu Ogbeh, minister of agriculture and rural development, also commissioned experts to find solutions to the disease outbreak “as soon as possible”.

The insect originated from South America around 1912 and has spread to other parts of the world.

Reports suggest the insect came to Africa through Republic of Niger.

Olisa Nwakoby Of FCMB Commits Suicide In Front Of His Pastor In Lagos (photo)

FCMB Bank Manager Olisa Nwakoby Kills Himself In front Of His Pastor In Lekki Lagos Over N350Million Debt. Mr. Olisa Nwakoby, a manager at a second generation bank, First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Plc on Friday evening shot himself dead in the presence of his Priest at the Lekki area of Lagos Island, Lagos State.
The father of a 10-year- old daughter was said to have taken his own life because of an incriminating huge loan transaction he approved in his bank.

Sources close to the family told ST at the weekend that the late Olisa was the approving officer for the loan which the beneficiary is no longer servicing and the bank was on the neck of Olisa to get the money back.

His late father, Chief Patrick Oguejiofor Nwakoby was a former chairman of First Bank of Niger Plc, a successfully lawyer , politician and a highly respected community leader before his death.

Fear over his integrity and the name of his family, which could be dented if his bank commences action against him over the loan, was too much for the vibrant banker to bear prompting him to shoot himself, our source said.

Our source did not say that there was suspicion of any foul play in the death of the banker, she also could not confirm the actual amount involved in the transaction, but she simply said “it was huge.” The case is being handled by homicide detectives attached to Area J Command, Lekki/Ajah. According to a police source.

The banks, on the fateful day he killed himself, went to meet his pastor. He told the pastor to tell his wife to take good care of his children, that what he would do in next few minutes would shock everyone. He was said to have later blown his brains out.

The source continued, “It was later discovered that he took money from the bank, N350million, and the money started creating problems for him. He killed himself.”

When the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmus, was contacted, her two lines were switched off. Olisa hails from Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government of Anambra State and he attended Abia State University, where he bagged a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree, in Microbiology between 1990 and 1995.
